This is exciting news for anyone who’s still holding out for a Samsung Galaxy S5 rather than purchasing the current S4 model. Can We Trust The Galaxy Gear 2 Rumor? Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to this question. Sometimes the rumors are right, while other times they…

GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / January 24, 2014

Hold on and prepare for launch, because a new source suggests Samsung will release their flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, in London, England around mid-March. At the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a company spokesperson stated that it was “highly likely” the Galaxy S5 would be released in Q1 of this year. Ever since then, industry analysts have been working around the clock to try and pinpoint a more precise date. This time, we have a report that Samsung will release the device around mid-March in London, England. It’s important to note that there’s still no official word on an exact date. We’re left to speculate on rumors leaked by insiders close to the South Korean tech company. With that said, this latest rumor comes from a reliable source that’s known to provide accurate information on upcoming smartphones and tech products. Will The Galaxy S5 See a Mid-May London Launch? Quite possibly, yes. Earlier this month, Italian journalist Flavio tweeted the following: “Samsung to hold its next Global launch (S5?) event in London in a mid March date, a reliable source confirmed me.” This is huge news as bloggers and tech analysts across the world are trying to…

Sorry, No Iris Scanner With The Samsung Galaxy S5
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / January 23, 2014

A couple months ago, we discussed a rumor suggesting that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 would feature advanced iris-scanning technology, allowing users to unlock their device by looking into the camera. Some people were excited after hearing this rumor, while others claimed it would be an “invasion of their privacy.” Regardless of which side of the fence you were on, it looks like Samsung is ditching the iris-scanning technology and going with the fingerprint unlocking method instead. If you want some next-generation eye-scanning technology, you’ll have to go with the Google Glass. According to a source for the Korea Herald, Samsung will not pursue the eye scanner for their upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S5. Why Did Samsung Scrap The Galaxy S5’s Iris Scanner? Apple has received praise for their simple yet highly effective fingerprint scanner, so why shouldn’t Samsung follow their lead? Of course, this begs the question: why did Samsung decide to ditch the Galaxy S5’s iris scanner in the first place? The Korea Herald offers some insight into Samsung’s decision… An anonymous source for the Korea Herald stated the following: “Who would want to put their handset up close to their eyes for authentication in places like movie…

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Feature Upgraded Air View and Air Gesture Tech
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / January 17, 2014

Air View and Air Gestures are two novelty features currently offered in the Samsung Galaxy S4. They allow users to operate their device by making movements or gestures above the phone’s sensor. While it’s pretty neat feature that’s fun to show off to your friends, it’s somewhat limited in terms of everyday function. Most Samsung Galaxy owners prefer to control their device by touch rather than motion, but this could change with the upgraded Air View and Air Gesture technology featured in the upcoming Galaxy  S5. Will The Samsung Galaxy S5 Feature New and Improved Air View and Air Gesture Technology? Although there’s no official word yet regarding any of the official hardware specs for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5, there’s evidence suggesting that it will in fact have a new and improved version of the company’s patented Air View and Air Gesture technology. Perhaps these improvements could turn this otherwise novelty feature into something that Galaxy owners access and use on a daily basis. I guess we’ll find out in a couple of months when the Galaxy S5 hits the market! New Motion Tech Coming To Both The Galaxy S4 and S5 Earlier this month, ETNews published an article…

The latest rumor surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 is that it will boast a 2900 mAh battery. Up until now, tech analysts and consumers have speculated over the upcoming device’s battery, but we now have strong evidence suggesting a 2900 mAh battery.   Samsung Galaxy S4 Battery Vs Upcoming Galaxy S5 Battery The Samsung Galaxy S4 currently uses a 2600 mAh battery, which has received mostly positive reviews. It’s hard to say exactly how long a typical Galaxy S4 lasts on a single charge, as there are many different factors which affect this. However, most users get a full day’s worth of use without having to recharge their device — unless they are using heavy, processor-intense applications. So, What’s The Scoop On The Galaxy S5’s Battery? Earlier this week, PhoneArena.com reported that the new Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature a 2900 mAh battery. The website claims to have received numerous tips regarding Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, one of which being the upgrade from a 2600 mAh battery to a slightly more powerful 2900 mAh battery. Although the 2900 mAh battery is more powerful and capable of holding a charge for longer, it’s physically the same size as the 2600…

News , smart phones / January 14, 2014

We’re just months away from the official Samsung Galaxy S5 launch, leaving consumers everywhere eagerly anticipating the specs of this groundbreaking smartphone. In some of our previous blog posts here at GalaxyS5US.com, we covered a number of rumored features, including eye-scanning technology, aluminum and leather body, curved display, etc. However, we now have details on what’s believed to be the official specs for the Samsung Galaxy S5! Insider Information From SamMobile Earlier this week, SamMobile published an article on their website claiming to have direct content with a Samsung insider. This informant provided a number of specific details regarding the company’s upcoming Galaxy S5 smartphone. Whether or not this “insider” is real is yet to be determined, but the specs published on their website look pretty realistic. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Will Come In Two Models According to the insider information published at SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come in two different versions: a metal version for roughly $670 bucks, and a plastic version for $450 bucks. This is something that many people had expected (including myself) given the success of the Apple iPhone 5s, which is also available in a plastic and metal version. With two different models,…

Will The Samsung Galaxy S5 Feature a Curved Display?
GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / January 11, 2014

If you keep up with our blog here at GalaxyS5US.com, you’ve probably heard a rumor that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature a curved display. There has been numerous reports leaked suggesting that it will in fact feature a curved display. But with no official word yet by Samsung, we’re left to speculate on the Galaxy S5’s hardware and design. Samsung Files Patent For Curved Display Last year, Samsung filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office (see illustration above). This patent includes curved edges with a sloped screen. Up until now, Samsung has yet to use this patent, leading many tech analysis to believe it’s for the company’s upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone. A curved screen would likely improve ergonomics, offering a more natural and comfortable feel when holding the device. Here are some of the ‘possible’ benefits of a curved display: More comfortable to hold Reduces glare and light reflection Prevents prying eyes from those around you Improved clarity Of course, the Galaxy Note 4 may also feature the company’s patented curved screen display. Both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 are scheduled for release this year, so we’ll find out the answer to this…

Rumor: Is Galaxy S5 Going to Verizon?
GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / December 29, 2013

AT&T Testing + Two Potential Variants = Potential for a Verizon Galaxy S5 Or are they budget and Premium versions as we previously thought? In a previous post, we talked about the rumor that AT&T is testing one of the Galaxy S5 variants. If the testing rumor is true, it would imply that AT&T will carry that specific device. If AT&T indeed has a Galaxy S5 variant, then no doubt Sprint and T-Mobile will also carry the device, but they don’t require special technology for the device to be carried since they use much the same network and cellular technology – the GSM network. However, the rumor only mentioned one of the two variants that are confirmed to exist, and didn’t mention which one. We know there are two variants – the SM-G900A and SM-G900F, as these have been confirmed by the benchmark testing by AnTuTu and Browsermark, but what we don’t know for sure is whether the second device is a budget Galaxy S5 or something else entirely. “Something Else” Might be a Verizon Galaxy S5 We previously assumed that the second variant would mean that Galaxy is getting a budget and a premium version, as iPhone did with…

Rumor: Galaxy S5 Display in Production
GalaxyS5 , Images , News , smart phones / December 28, 2013

Will Galaxy S5 Display be Flat or Curved? In our last few posts, we talked about a potential release date for the Galaxy S5, noting that it is likely to be announced at the February, 2014 press event that Samsung has scheduled to take the day before the Mobile World Congress is scheduled to open to show off its own Tizen mobile OS. Galaxy S5 Display in Production Already? However, according to the latest rumors that made it around the mill over the Christmas holiday, the Galaxy S5 has apparently made it into mass production already – or parts of it have, anyway, but this rumor feels a bit fishy to us. According to a report by the International Business Times via Korean publication Ddaily.co.kr, the current device display in mass production is a 5.25-inch flat QHD AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 2560 pixels by 1440 pixels, as we mentioned previously, and it will sport a pixel density of 560 pixels per inch – which we also mentioned previously.  However, we also talked about the Galaxy S5 featuring a bendable or otherwise flexible display previously, although at the time we were not (and still are not) sure how it…
